Tournament Basketball Program Overview

Our Tournament Basketball Program is open to boys and girls in grades 4 through 8 who are seeking a more competitive playing experience. These advanced-level teams compete against some of the top programs across Oregon and require a higher level of commitment from both players and families.

Program Structure & Commitment

Tournament teams practice twice per week for two hours each session. Participation involves a significant time commitment, especially on weekends for tournament play. Most teams will compete in approximately six tournaments throughout the season.

Tournaments are primarily held in Salem, Albany, Corvallis, and Eugene, with the possibility of traveling to additional locations as determined by each team’s head coach. While many events are local or regional, teams should be prepared for occasional travel to further destinations depending on tournament availability and competition level.

Financial Commitment

The program requires a higher financial investment compared to recreational basketball. A registration fee of $385 helps cover insurance, equipment, uniforms, tournament fees, and other operational costs associated with running the program.  At registration you can pay in full or pay $150 then remaining balance will be due no later than December 5th.

Team Formation & Tryouts

Each team typically consists of 10 players. Tryouts are held annually in early October and are conducted separately for each grade and gender. There are three tryout sessions per group, and while full participation is strongly encouraged, attending at least one session is required to be considered for a team.

Please note:

• Teams are not pre-selected prior to tryouts. All players must try out each year, regardless of previous participation.

• Tryouts are facilitated by the McNary High School varsity coaching staff (boys and girls), ensuring an impartial evaluation process.

• Coaches review tryout results collectively and make final team selections based on player performance.

• Players will be notified of tryout results directly by McNary Coaches.

The goal of our Tournament Program is to provide young athletes with a structured and competitive basketball environment that fosters skill development, teamwork, and preparation for higher levels of play.

IMPORTANT INFO - Please have players wear a shirt/Jersey with a number on it. Also, please bring a ball if you have one.

FUTURE CELTS NIGHT 

October 28th from 6:30-7:45pm @ McNary High School- This is for players who made a tournament team, they will be notified by coaches and receive an invite to this event.
